Oscar-winner Ben Affleck will be Gotham’s latest Dark Knight, and I can safely say that I did not see this one coming. B’Affleck was not even in the top 5 contenders, if you go by general film blogging consensus.
Ben Affleck will join Henry Cavill in Warner Bros.’ Man of Steel sequel, the studio announced on Thursday.
The project was announced at Comic-Con earlier this year, prompting much speculation surrounding who would play the caped crusader. Zack Snyder is back in the director’s chair for the project, which places Batman and Superman together on the big screen for the first time.
The film is slated to open worldwide on July 17, 2015. [THR]
I had money on them picking Karl Urban (Judge Dredd) or Josh Brolin, but I cant say I’m disappointed with the choice either. Henry Cavill is quite a tall superman, so a 6’3″ Ben Affleck would stack up quite well with the Man of Steel. Let’s just hope he doesn’t ‘put this whole Gotham in his rearview’ (*The Town reference for all you plebs out there)
